Bridge Power Stage 1B

57 MW Steam Turbine + Generators (completing Combined Cycle)

LPG

Located in Tema, Ghana

Endeavor Energy is the majority owner of the Bridge Power Project, a power plant designed to run on LPG as well as natural gas, which is to be built in two primary stages. Endeavor drove the project to financial close and is the owner of companies that will provide construction management services, O&M services, and commercial management services to the project.

Stage 1 of the Bridge Power is comprised of Stage 1A, which is operational, and Stage 1B, which is under construction. Stage 1B will add 57 MW of output, bringing the total output of the power plant to approximately 202 MW. Stage 1B will employ five General Electric once-through steam generators, one steam turbine, and one air-cooled condenser. These elements will be integrated with the existing General Electric trailer-mounted LM2500 turbines at the project site in Tema, Ghana, and will result in a highly-efficient, combined-cycle power plant, utilizing innovative LPG-to-Power technology on a larger scale than anywhere else in Africa.

Bridge Power is located near the fast-growing urban center of Accra and is additionally situated in a large industrial area with significant and growing energy demands; as such, the project will be key if Ghana’s is to meet its growing demand for power. In the long term, the power plant can run on natural gas and so once natural gas supply is available in the Tema area, Bridge Power will help the country utilize its cost-effective and clean domestic natural gas. Bridge Power is structured to sell its electricity production to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) under a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement.

Bridge Power was developed and constructed with the support of the U.S. Power Africa initiative; particularly when both stages are complete, the project will add significant generation capacity on the continent.

Bridge Power Plant won awards in various categories in 2019, from both Project Finance International as well as from the Partnerships Awards.
